- : Help? Please consider that the vast majority of Amigas reside here in
- : Europe.US of A,once the land where it all began and looked so bright,
- : is now CloneLand...
-
- The Amiga was born in the States. Many of the "fathers" of Amiga still
- live in the States. The State's is a major ceneter for bleeding edge
- hardware. Lastly, tax rates here in the Staes are a hell of a lot lower
- then what they are in Germany (even with the Clinton "Call it a tax-cut if
- you want" type shit). With AmigaTech located here in the States, its just
- that much closer to Motorola.

- : Probably VIScorp will not publize the Amiga, just his ED settopbox...
- : remember NewTek Toaster? :(
-
- In reality. NewTek publized the Toaster like an SOB. If you look in any
- of the older Video mags, you will see Toaster ads everywhere. What did
- you expect? TV ads during the 6:00 news?
-
- VISCorp is "supposedly filled with Amiga lovers". If they weren't, they
- wouldn't of payed $40,000,000 for it. They would of found a way to just
- get the shit they wanted. But instead, they got everything that AT has
- been working on for these past few months.

-
- : Well the question is: what kind of development? If all they want is
- : to develop Amiga "things" for ITV,the platform we all know and love
- : is at stop gap.
-
- We know that they will be using the AmigaOS and Amiga custom chips in
- their set top boxes. But you need a developer platform. That surely
- isn't going to be a PC, Mac, or used Amiga. Its gonna be something new.
-
- We all know that the father of "Exec.Library" works there. He most surely
- knows the problems with AmigaOS. Hell, just talk to anybody who has even
- half a clue on how the deep innards of the OS works and they'll probably
- all say the same thing about whats wrong with AmigaOS. Its not like the
- boneheads back in Germany that were just trying to get a sloppy port of
- AmigaOS from the 680x0 to the 6xx.

-
- : Pretty right.
-
- They never really bought Commodore to get the Amiga. They got it so that
- they could have the Commodore label and some of the patents and trademarks
- that it held. The Amiga was just some extra "stuff" that came along with
- it... just as a few thousand screaming fanatic Amiga users was part of the
- deal too.
-

-
- : Yes capitalized (just a note VIS in latin means force,energy,power,...)
-
- That may not be quite as simple as it sounds. Although the Internet is
- growing in Europe at a fast rate, it is not growing the same way as it is
- here in the States. Over here, many people want to get on the 'Net
- because TV has been hyping it for about 2 years now, from Porn to
- Government intervention to instant access to data galore. In Europe,
- governemnts see the Internet as a way to build up their digital
- infrastructure. The public has a different view of it over there.
-
- : > And what's that? Was it that Boos guy over to the side again screaming
- : > for Java integration on the Amiga? Oh never mind his rants...
-
- : Java integration for the Amiga or for the Amiga-based settop?
-
- Support for Java with AmigaOS as a 3rd-party language for use with any WWW
- browser that makes a port for it (ala, like the ARexx port).
